Appointments

One Problem per One Appointment

If you would like a chaperone during an appointment, please ask reception. For more information, please see our Chaperone Policy.

The surgery operates an appointments system, and appointments can be made:

Please note that an appointment is for one person only. If you have a number of issues to discuss, please ask for a longer appointment, or you may be asked to rebook as consultations are limited in time.

If your appointment is about a letter received from an outside agency, it is the patients responsibility to contact the surgery to ensure we have received a copy of the letter before your consultation to avoid an unnecessary appointment.

Patients may make an appointment with any of the doctors, but should try to see the same doctor throughout the course of treatment.

Minor Illness Clinics

Minor Illness Clinics are held Monday to Friday. Please visit our Clinics and Services page for further information.

Pre-bookable Appointments

Future booking of appointments can be booked up to one week in advance. For early morning or afternoon appointments, you can also book extended hours appointments in advance.

On-the-day urgent appointments

We operate an ‘on the day’ telephone triage appointment system for emergencies, but future booking is possible up to 4 weeks in advance for early morning or afternoon appointments.

Any requests for on the day appointments that fit emergency criteria will be booked with the on call GP, who will telephone the patient back and assess them over the telephone. The on call GP will then book an appointment that day for the patient if required

Extended hours appointments

Every evening from 18:30 we offer appointments for patients who cannot attend appointments during the day. These appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance, and can be booked in the same way.

If you are making an appointment for a medical examination, such as DVLA medical or an employment medical, please tell the receptionist as they will need to give you a longer appointment.

Telephone consultations

We now offer telephone consultations with the GPs.

Telephone consultations can be booked for discussing medication, requesting sick notes and discussing test results. To book a telephone consultation, please call the surgery.

You can also request a telephone consultation with a nurse for clinical advice or vaccination queries i.e. Travel vaccinations.

Please note, telephone consultations are of 5 minutes duration. If you feel you may need longer, please ask the receptionist for a double appointment.

Text messaging

The surgery offers a free text message appointment reminder service. If you would like to sign up for this free service, please complete this Consent Form.

This service will send you a confirmation of appointment via text message, and then it will remind you 12 hours before your appointment.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. You can also call the surgery and press option 5 to cancel your appointment. If you do not cancel your appointment, it will be marked as ‘did not attend’.

DNA – Appointments which weren’t attended

After a ‘DNA’, you will receive a letter from the surgery informing you that you have missed this appointment. After receiving 3 letters, you will be removed from the practice list. Please see our DNA Policy for more information.
